The composer writes: My Three Paintings by Kandinsky (2023-2024) is comprised of three pieces inspired by the art of Wassily Kandinsky: Contrasting Sounds (2024), Transverse Line (2024) and To the Sea and the Sun (2023). Kandinsky's bold, abstract paintings are full of motion and rhythmic energy – and it is these qualities that I have sought to capture and emulate in my compositions. Also, it is interesting to note that Kandinsky was himself influenced by music, and believed there are strong connections between visual and aural art-forms. “Music is the ultimate teacher,” he said.

These three orchestral pieces may be performed separately, or together as a three-movement suite.
