For those not in the loop, Classical Revolution is an initiative to bring chamber-music concerts into bars, cafés, restaurants and art galleries. The name “Classical Revolution” is derived from the Revolution Café in San Francisco, where it all began with informal classical jam nights by professional musicians.
I don’t want to say too much about the Toronto chapter at this time, as I’m hoping to write on the subject at greater length in the not-too-distant future. But I would like to congratulate Edwin Huizinga, Carol Gimbel and the other organizing musicians for an enjoyable evening of chamber music at mid-Toronto bar called Dave’s on St. Clair.
If you’d like to know more about Classical Revolution, here’s a link to an article by Chloe Veltman form the New York Times. (I also wrote a piece about Classical Revolution for the Houston Chronicle a few months ago, which you’ll find here.)
